The Winning McCain Strategy

The Winning McCain Strategy

(in spite of his ramblings)

In 10 words, how should we market McCain?

We have all heard the story, about how Clinton won the ‘92’ election by focusing on the economy. Remember, the strategy, “it’s the economy stupid?” It has been said that Clinton opened every speech that election year with how his opponent, Bush Sr., had destroyed the economy; and he ended every speech with how Bush had destroyed the economy.

Now, that’s focus.

I am reminded of this simple marketing strategy every night I see John McCain trying to be all things to all people. How about last week when he was on foreign ground talking about free trade?  Now, there’s a winner. Doesn’t this guy have any marketing expertise on board?

So, what is John McCain’s 10 word strategy? And more important, how do we implement it when John himself is so independent? Who should we aim the message at?

Here’s a hint, the “winning” strategy shouldn’t be aimed at blacks, environmentalists, radical liberals or anyone else that has voted democrat (or for that matter republican) for decades. These loyalists are already in the bag for Obama and McCain respectively. I swear the democrat robots could see a tape of Obama robbing the local convenient store and they’d still vote for him. And yes, McCain has his worshipers too.

Our target market is simply the “undecided.” Reagan won them (i.e., the Reagan dems), Clinton won them; shoot every president wins the undecided. To hook this prize, “moderate- center” group; your candidate has to focus on the characteristics of the market. Marketing gurus say you need to know your market. Here’s one of the most important characteristics of this group and knowing it should help us market too them effectively:

“Undecideds" or “moderates” aren’t as interested in politics as we idealists. I mean; how could anyone possibly have heard Obama and McCain for over a year now, everyday; and not make a decision yet? There is light years difference between the two. In fact, they are practically polar opposites; and still some are still undecided?  No, the undecided are simply tuned out and not interested in taxes, big government, global warming, the war in Iraq or politics.  I think also, they are overwhelmingly pro-American (again the Reagan democrats come to mind).

So, what might interest them? The group itself suggests the strategy. How about if one of the presidential candidates had a mentor for over 20 years and the mentor was an extreme anti-American, racist?  Do you think this fact might perk some interest in the undecided? Do you think the message is simple enough that even a T-shirt could convey its serious nature?

Indeed, if Obama did (and he did) financially and otherwise support the anti-American, racist message of his ex-pastor and church; then McCain’s winning strategy should focus on this powerful truth; and it should be delivered redundantly to just the right people. In short, McCain and / or his supporters need to find innovative ways of getting the incredible anti-American anger of Obama’s past mentor and pastor across to the people that will decide this election.

Here’s another truth. The establishment media makes “explaining away” the 20 year support of this most inconvenient anti-Americanism almost simple. So here we are McCain’s supporters with a winning strategy that probably will not be blessed by McCain or the “drive by” media. It’s already been swept under the rug by both. All Obama had too do was say, I didn’t hear the anti-American rage of my pastor; and now that I have heard it; I’m changing churches.

Folks, we can’t let this slide. Rev Wright is our: “It’s the economy stupid.”

It’s time for us to resurrect Obama’s support for this craziness and keep it out front.  But remember it’s not just the message but it’s the who should hear it that counts. Again, we are aiming Obama’s anti-Americanism past at the “Reagan undecided” possibly a lot of union members. What a message. These people maybe uninterested in economic and foreign policy but they love America.

Here’s the rest of the strategy; and this is incredibly ironic: We can get the “drive bys” to push our message. Again, remembering that this “defeat Obama” strategy or message is so simple it can be written on a T-shirt. (And as luck would have it; we’ve already made that T-shirt up. ------ see below); why not simply make the base message T-shirt the official wardrobe of the Republican National Convention.

Here we have the stage all week; where the world will see what we want them too see. Can you see Nancy Palosi’s face when CBS interviews 15-20 convention goers and they are all wearing precisely the same message and that message focuses on the Anti-Americanism that is so close to Obama? The madder Nancy gets; the better for our message. And the best part; again, it’s the establishment media that gets credit for spreading the word. Don’t you know Nancy will not be the only ones upset; how about the liberal media going nuts covering our story even when they want to decide what’s news?

Now, go to my web site and see the unifying tee shirt that will spread our word like nothing else. And remember who gets this message the most, the extremely pro-American, Reagan Democrats.

 Sincerely,

McCain's Winning Strategy- With or without him

The Winning McCain Strategy

(in spite of his ramblings)

In 10 words, how should we market McCain?

We have all heard the story, about how Clinton won the 92 election by focusing on the economy. Remember, the strategy, “it’s the economy stupid.” It has been said that Clinton started every speech that election year with how his opponent, Bush Sr., had destroyed the economy; and he ended every speech with how he had destroyed the economy.

Now, that’s focus.

I am reminded of this simple marketing strategy every night I see John McCain try to be all things to all people. How about last week when he was on foreign ground talking about free trade?  Now, there’s a winner.

Doesn’t this guy have a marketing guru on board?

So, what is John McCain’s 10 word strategy? And more important, how do we implement it without John’s support?

Here’s a hint, the “winning” strategy shouldn’t be aimed at blacks or liberals or anyone else that votes democrat every election for decades. They are already in the bag for Obama. I swear these robots could see a tape of Obama robbing the local convenient store and they’d still vote for him. And yes, McCain has his worshipers too.

Our target market is simply the “undecided.” Ragan won them, Clinton won them shoot every president wins the undecided, that’s why both Obama and McCain are appearing to be heading for the mid ground. That’s where this group resides.

To hook this prize market you have to make assumptions about its characteristics. Marketing gurus say you need to know your market.  Here’s one of the most important characteristics of this group and knowing it should help us market too them effectively:

They aren’t very interested in politics. How could you possibly have heard Obama and McCain for over a year now, everyday; and not make a decision yet? I mean there is light years difference here. In fact, these two are practically polar opposites, perhaps the biggest difference most of us have ever seen in presidential politics and some are still undecided?

No, the undecided this year are simply tuned out and not interested in taxes, big government, global warming, the war in Iraq etc.

So, what might interest them? The market itself suggests the strategy has to be simple. For instance, what if one of the candidates had a mentor for over 20 years and the mentor was an extreme anti-American and racists. Do you think this might interest the undecided? Well, it’s a simple message and it’s powerful. Then McCain’s winning strategy should focus on Obama Rev. Wright and his mad anti-American, racist tirades.

This is huge hurdle for Obama to explain away made almost simple by the establishment media. So here we are McCain’s supporters with a winning strategy that probably will not be blessed by McCain or the “drive by media”. It’s already been swept under the rug.

It’s time for us to resurrect it. But remember who we are aiming this at; the Raigan conservatives. What a message. These people maybe uninterested in economic and forein policy but they love America.

Here’s the rest of the story; and this is the brilliant part: The message is so simple it can be written on a T-shirt. We’ll make up a T-shirt making fun of Obama Anti-American, racists church and we’ll all wear this shirt on a huge media day, like our convention.

Think about it, we can get the liberal media to cover our story in a big, big way by simply making everyone at the Republican National Convention wear our strategic T-shirts all week.

Don’t you know the liberal media will go nuts covering our story?

Now, go to my web site and see the tee Shirt that will spread our word like nothing else.

The Conservative Message- The Winner!

As I read Townhall. com, my morning newspaper, and watch the Sunday news programs I am left with one very scary thought.

We conservates don't stand a chance in November. Our news is "no news" even among our own blogs; much less with the establishment media. Oh, it's true the drive-by media acts as if the conservative message is the plague; but we ---- conservatives---don't do much better. And John McCain is completely lost in delivering a well focused message.

For instance, the Clinton election of 1992 is a familiar story. Remember how James Carvell made the Clinton Team focus like a light beam on, "It's the economy stupid." Supposedly, every speach made during this campaign started with the bad economic news and ended with the bad economic news. Now, folks that's focus.

As I read just our blogs on Townhall.com; it's fair to say we are all over the place. Indeed, there is no consistant message. One blog pays respect to Tony Snow, another the price of oil, still another the war on terror, high taxes, etc. etc.

Don't get me wrong, Tony Snow is worth of praise. but somehow we need to start with our basic message and end with our basic message even when we are remembering one of our great ones.

And what is that basic message?

I've already listed a few possibilities. The war, high taxes, big government are all potential central messages. But here's a thought. Why not target the Raegan democrats; the voters that will decide this election? Who are they? What do they want from our party or conservative movement?

I don't know precisely who these centrists are but I know labor unions provide a great target market. Let's call this group the "Joe 6 pak" market. I mean no disrespect by this title because I know these guys actually make our world go, make our country competitive.

So here is the basic message that could turn this election?

Obama not only represents big government, big taxes, big regulations all very negative to your union's best interest but more importantly he has supported a church for 20 years that is racist and anti-american.

There; that's our secret, super focused message for capturing the majority of the "undecided' or Raegan democrats in this next election. Then, here's our assignment for every "conservative" blog writer:

Make sure your article or blog starts with and finishes with the ills of big government and Obama's strong support (financially and otherwise) of an anti-American church.

Highways, Deadlier Than WarsIII

We can eliminate most all traffic accidents!
I am one of a very rare breed. I am a libertarian that believes big government is the only way to solve "some" of our society's basic problems.

For instance, maintaining local roads takes enormous resouces and as far as I can see, the government is really the only way. Incidently, most cities and counties do a very bad job of resurfacing roads, not enough is spent.

Additionally, making our roads safe is a function that only the government can do. Free markets; that is basic individual freedom to drive at will is the absolute wrong answer.

So, yes forced taxes are necessary. The trick is to prioritize and stop our neighbors from using government to rob or regulate us unnecessarily .

Please, stop with the freedom stuff and recognize there are appropriate functions for government.

By the way, since our nation's birth we've lost almost 500 times more lives on our roads than in all wars combined.

I think "highway safety" should be the absolute top priority of both the republicans and libertarians. The reason I feel so strong about this is simple.

If we have the will to do so, we can eliminate almost all traffic accidents overnight. The technology and knowledge is there.
Again, we need government to lead the way and we lead the government. Too bad "We the People" are so ill-informed about how to eliminate traffic accidents.

This year we will lose almost 4500% more lives on our roads than in Iraq. Bring on big government and please, big brother, enforce the right traffic laws more effectively.

Highways, Deadlier Than WarsII

I just wrote the following comment to Hugh Huwitt's, July 4 blog honoring Lt. Blecksmith:

Subject: Highways, Deadlier than Wars!

"I wish there was some way to honor a fallen hero like Lt.Blecksmith and at the same time honor all those 115 plus traffic accident fatalities that also died on 11/11/04.

Here's a fact that may surprise almost everyone: Since the founding of our nation, we've lost almost 500 times more lives on American highways than in all wars combined.

Since, the Iraq war started we've lost approximately 210,000 lives on our highways compared to how many in Iraq during this same period? So, where should our priorities be?

Maybe we conservatives ought to get as serious about our national highway safety program as we are about helping an unappreciative people in Iraq? The highway is where the real war needs to be fought."

I've had a few of you ask, why did I write something so uninteresting next to such a fine tribute to one of our heroes? Besides, what can be done about the annual massacre on our highways?

Here's the short and simple answer.

The first political party that really addresses the ineffectiveness of our nation's very expensive highway safety program (hundreds of billions if not trillions) will be in power for a long time. Whomever owns the highway safety solution will gain huge headlines.

Now, here's the real kicker. The solution is simple, almost without costs, and requires us conservatives to embrace what appears to be a huge support of yet another big government solution. The more you get informed about our nation's lack of highway safety the more you will first, agree that this problem swamps most every other human health problem we have; and second, requires big brother to be re-focused like a laser to eliminate, not just reduce traffic accidents.

Folks, this can be a big time conservative issue and solution. More importantly, we can eliminate most of the 42,000 annual fatalities and over 3,200,000 injuries associated with our road adventures.

Look, I am a conservative and I chose to share this problem and solution with you, fellow conservatives, for a reason. I'd hate to see the libs own the solution. Trust me, you will be shocked at how simple the solution is.

Highways, Deadlier Than Wars

Highways, Deadlier Than Wars- The Republican Call to Arms!

Since the founding of our great nation, almost 500% more lives have been lost on our highways than in all wars fought.

Here's the good news, as a nation we can eliminate almost all traffic accidents overnight. We have the knowhow, we have the technology. We only lack the political will! That's right, politics is the answer.

Here's another fact: Traffic Accidents are the #1 killer of every age group between the ages of 3 and 33.

The first political party that gets this right will be in power for a long time.

Folks, the deaths, injuries, and property damage experienced on our roads swamps the dangers associated with:

1. The War in Iraq
2.  Local Crime
3.  All childhood illnesses
4.  Katrina
5.  Everything else if you are under 33

Are you interested in real highway safety before your family is torn apart by an accident?
